Heritage

In the City of Fredericton, we have great examples of our heritage represented by our architecture. This is important because it adds so much value in Fredericton, first for those of us who can enjoy the beauty and meaning that exists behind the buildings, but also because of the economic drive behind people that visit our city and spend money in our downtown and other businesses because of the allure the heritage has.

The preservation of these heritage examples and neighbourhoods have been the subject of great controversy in the past year and going door to door, there is a great deal of confusion and fear with regards to how we at city hall go about administering it.

There has been no question of the value of the preservation, but what needs to be examined is our practices and policies.

I have launched a review as follow up to a commitment made in my campaign to examine and propose alternatives for making heritage inclusive and address the fears and dissatisfaction in the community around the policies that exist.

If you click the link below, you will be taken to the process as it has began and find out how to contribute and the dates you need to be aware of. This is a grass roots initiative and I need your input!
